Flexomaid Cleaning System recognised by American FTA “Aeromaid cleans all types of anilox and gravure cylinders with efficiency, remarkable accuracy and unrivalled repeatability, regardless of the screen or cell dimensions,” said Mr Thibault. “With its patented head, it measures the roll and its diameter before cleaning, to determine the right amount of detergent required and sends the measurements, in real time, to the machine’s software, thus minimising fluid consumption, resulting in substantial savings. It takes only 0.4 ounces of cleaning fluid to clean an 8” anilox with a 3” diameter. “The patented cleaning head accelerates air almost to the speed of sound, and applies specialised Aeromaid detergents and rinse solution.” The cleaning head doesn’t spray any solid media or generate any wet residue, and all cleaning residue accumulates on a micro perforated absorbent strip. When the cleaning cycle is complete, the strip moves half an inch towards the cabinet outlet. A drive system at the outlet, recovers the used material which can then be detached and discarded by the operator. Mr Thibault said Aeromaid’s software uses algorithms to synchronise the rotational speed of the anilox roller and the travel speed of the head. “These algorithms determine the right amount of detergent and rinse solutions needed depending on the size of the roller. The software also allows the cleaning cycle to be tailored to the client’s needs, enabling the operator to determine the number of passes per cycle, and the soaking time for each type of detergent. In addition, the software monitors the number of cleaning cycles performed with each container of detergent and records the type of cleaning performed.” Mr Thibault said the company’s soy-based detergents melt the ink resins and uniformly reach the bottom of the cells, regardless of cell size, shape, porosity or screen line. “All EcomaidTM detergents are biodegradable and aluminium safe, and are also suitable for manual cleaning directly on the press. “Today’s anilox rollers are continually improving, with higher screen lines, and inks are becoming more complex and more challenging to clean.” There are also stricter environmental regulations. The return on investment varies between five to eight months, depending on the number of presses and cleaning undertaken per day. This is the second time that PAD Peripheral Advanced Design has won the award, being recognised for InkSpec in 2007, said Mr Eric Thibault, Flexomaid’s Business Development Director. Flexomaid’s soy-based detergent range melts the most complex of ink resins.
