labelsplus : FPLMA Awards Catalog November 2016
COMPLETING THE JOURNEY Welcome to our first Print Awards dinner as a combined group. Thank-you to our sponsors for this event, and the two-day Conference, helping us to take the association into the future. On 1st July 2016, we officially launched the FPLMA, the new association to represent and promote flexible packaging manufacturers and label conver ters. The new association will enable us to reach additional members within the Asia Pacific region and incorporate us into an increasingly expanding region - rather than Australia only and complementing the affiliations current members from both associations have within the Asia Pacific region. The original impetus for this direction was based on many factors, but there were underlining similarities affecting both organisations and seen as: • Globalisation and consolidation of converter and supplier memberships, • Budget constraints in organisations – requiring duplicate sponsoring and/or membership, • Blurring of the boundaries in packaging printing, means there is more of a cross-over need for technical knowledge and training in self-adhesive labels, flexible packaging and folding box production, • Voluntary-run organisations need people power for events, training programs. Time pressure and time limitations means this is a diminishing resource for many organisations and requires consolidated management and events. We believe there will be considerable benefits to the membership with the new structure. Pre-existing Perpetuity Funds will continue as previously. All current Hall of Fame and Life Members from the respective associations will remain the same. Thanks also to the par ticipants in this great industr y for your support and the commitment you have demonstrated in our new future together.
